Happy St. Patrick's Day

Welp, here we are. It's St. Patrick's Day in South Bend, IN. Outside of Ireland, where else would you want to be? Notre Dame spring football is in full swing, the Irish women will likely notch a 1 seed in the tournament, and hockey won an overtime thriller to advance to the finals of the Big Ten Tourney. So, why not grab a Guinness, eat some Irish stew, and do a little jig today.

Let's take a little closer look at each sport, though, save the men's basektball team (sigh), starting with football. What's everyone want to talk about? The quaterback position? Sure, why not. It'll be the Ian Book show this fall, but Phil Jurkovec is one play away so he better be ready. My concerns aren't there, though. The Irish have to replace center Sam Mustipher and running back Dexter Williams. There are a ton of question marks at the skill positions. Guys like Chase Claypool, Chris Finke, and Jafar Armstrong are going to have to step up. On the opposite side of the ball, there are even more holes to fill. Imagine not having Drue Tranquill and Tevon Coney at linebacker, losing Jerry Tillery on the DL, and Julian Love at corner (we all know how the game went against Clemson when he got hurt...). To say there COULD be problems is an understatement. Thank God the Irish don't play until September...

Irish women's basketball. What is there to say? This team has the talent, and depth, to make a run at another National Championship. Notre Dame has multiple weapons that can score, and several two way players that add strength on the defensive side. Could it be a rematch in the finals once again? Let's book another National Championship. I am calling it now.

Notre Dame hockey. Whoa baby! What a game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. OT winner to head to the finals of the Big Ten tournament. Time to make a statement and win the whole thing...

I'm signing out. Again, grab a Guinness, a shot of Bailey's, and celebrate. Cheers! Go Irish!
